Clinical activities and interests/research

I trained in medicine in London (Charing Cross and Westminster Hospital) and have been a consultant to the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust since 1997. I am a member (and previous chair) of the Pathology Section Committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology. I am a quality assurance pathologist for the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and a member of the national pathology committee for the programme. I am interested in clinical research and have over 125 publications, mainly in gastrointestinal and breast disease, including two books and several book chapters. Within my role as a gastrointestinal pathologist I have a clinical interest in gastrointestinal stromal tumours.
