Clinical activities and interests/research

I am part of the oncology team on the Sarcoma Unit at University College Hospital, and specialise in the systemic treatment of patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. I have continued to provide patient care in clinic since 1996 (general oncology), with more emphasis on sarcoma and rare tumors starting from 1998. I completed my training at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan and at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston. From 2006 to 2010 I was Associate Physician, Medical Oncology, Istituto Nazionale Tumori, Milan working in the Sarcoma Team. I’m particularly interested in the study and treatment of adult patients who are diagnosed with a so-called “paediatric” sarcoma, especially regarding the difference in outcomes that these patients present compare to the pediatric population. In this regard, during my fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute I also worked with Dr. Karen Albritton, who at that time was setting up of one of the first AYA (adolescents and young adults) Clinic, as well as the Survivorship Clinic. I have a strong interest in early phase clinical trials and am a co-investigator for a number of clinical trials in sarcoma.
