20 April 2012 - Abdominal Sarcomas
Since 2010 with the centralisation of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Sarcoma surgery at the Royal Free Hospital this has created one of the leading centres for complex surgery in the UK. Patients with abdominal sarcomas are now operated on at the Royal Free Hospital whilst their oncology treatment remains at UCLH. The two teams work together and discuss patients care at an abdominal sarcoma MDT. The teams of specialists at the RFH means patients are offered cutting edge treatment from the full range of subspecialists who are world leaders in their field. To date the unit has a zero mortality rate for retroperitoneal sarcoma resections.
