London Sarcoma Patient and Service Partnership Group

25 July 2014 - London Sarcoma Patient and Service Partnership Group

We welcome patients, carers and relatives input into the London Sarcoma Service and ask you to join our Patient and Service Partnership Group as a patient representative.

What is a Patient and Service Partnership Group?

Membership of the Patient and Service Partnership Group group consists of patients with sarcoma (or their carers and relatives) who have had their treatment managed by the London Sarcoma Service (University College London Hospital and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital). By talking to and working with their Sarcoma NHS professionals, members can bring the patient perspective which will help us to improve our service.

What does a Patient and Service Partnership Group do?

  • Provides the service with feedback on the patient experience of living with sarcoma and the patient perspective of how the service works
  • Acts as a sounding board for service developments and research proposals
  • Offers suggestions for future improvements to the service

What will I be required to do as a patient representative?

  • Attend and develop the Patient and Service Partnership Group meetings and help us to drive improvements forward
  • Provide feedback of your experience of the service and living with your sarcoma

What has the Patient and Service Partnership Group achieved?

  • The development and design of a ‘Blue bag’ which is provided to all new sarcoma patients together with the written information received throughout treatment
  • Changes to the organisation of the RNOH outpatient clinic to enable easy access into waiting room
  • Reviews of patient information leaflets, development of surveys and audits

What support is available?

Training: Members are invited to attend training events when available

Expenses: We are happy to reimburse your travel costs for you to attend meetings. If you are using public transport we would encourage you to try and obtain the cheapest fare possible. Please keep your receipts.
