07 February 2012 - London Sarcoma Service top global recruiter for the EURAMOS-1 study
Successful accrual to the EURAMOS-1 study has recently completed: 2260 patients were registered from 18 countries. The UK was the 3rd largest recruiting country with 298 patients registered, 13% of the trial total. The London Sarcoma Service registered 90 patients and was not only the largest UK recruiting centre but importantly the largest centre worldwide!
We are very grateful to all our patients who took part in this project and to all our staff whose efforts contributed to achieve this enviable success. We look forward to sharing the study results with everybody next year.
Our efforts to improve osteosarcoma patient care do not stop here. In fact we are now recruiting patients for the Glu1 trial where we investigate the role of the drug glucarpidase in reducing methotrexate side effects and consequently improving patients quality of life. Moreover we are very conscious of the importance of a worldwide collaboration in such a rare cancer and we are working hard with colleagues in other countries to set up the next global clinical trial, EURAMOS-2.
